Most gardening advice assumes you have a big yard. We don't.

This site is for people with normal-sized lots who want to do something useful with their outdoor space. Raised beds that actually fit. Chicken coops that work in a neighborhood. Greenhouses you can build in a weekend without a permit.

We try things in our own backyard first. When something works, we write it up. When a product is worth buying, we say so. When it isn't, we say that too.

What we cover

Gardens, backyard chickens, composting, greenhouses, and yard layout planning. Every guide includes a cost estimate, difficulty rating, and time estimate so you know what you're getting into before you start.

Product reviews

We buy or borrow the products we review. Our product guides compare real options at real price points. We skip the filler products that pad out most "best of" lists.
