Disclosure

Affiliate disclosure.

The short version

We earn commissions when you buy products through some of the links on this site. The price you pay is exactly the same. We do not let those commissions decide what we recommend.

Who we work with

Amazon Associates. Small Property Living is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Most of our product links go to Amazon.

Other retailer programs. We may also link to Home Depot, Lowe's, Tractor Supply, Vego Garden, OverEZ, and similar retailers through their respective affiliate programs (typically through impact.com, Awin, or Sovrn Commerce).

What that means for you

  • The product price is identical whether you click our link or go directly to the retailer.
  • We receive a small percentage of qualifying purchases.
  • Clicking a link does not commit you to buying anything.
  • We do not track your purchase activity beyond what the retailer's affiliate program shares with us (typically: anonymous aggregate sales data).

How we pick what to recommend

We test products in our own yards before we write about them. When a roundup says "best of," we mean it from our hands-on experience or from clear-eyed analysis of specs, materials, and warranties — not from whichever product pays the highest commission.

When a product has real flaws, we say so. When a budget pick is genuinely better than a premium option for most readers, we recommend the budget pick. The site exists because most "best of" lists online are padded with whatever the writer's affiliate dashboard suggests. We're trying not to be that.

How to tell which links are affiliate links

Any link to Amazon, Home Depot, Vego Garden, OverEZ, or similar retailers in a product context is an affiliate link. We don't tag every individual link with "(affiliate)" because that would be unreadable, but you can assume any retailer link in a product comparison or buying guide is one.

What we don't do

  • We don't accept payment for positive reviews.
  • We don't accept free products in exchange for guaranteed positive coverage. (If we receive a product to test, we disclose it in the review.)
  • We don't write sponsored content disguised as editorial.
  • We don't share your personal data with affiliate partners.

Questions

If you spot something that looks like a conflict, or you want to know specifically how we tested a product, email us via the contact page. We answer.
